Dr. Lia Abney is a veteran and federally employed with over 20 years of government service. She is a 2008 graduate of the University of Phoenix with a Master of Science degree in Management and Public Administration. She earned her doctorate in Public Administration from Capella University in 2023. Dr. Abney is also a business and career consultant, motivational speaker, and published author. Dr. Abney's authorship includes a contribution to Women in Public Administration: Theory and Practice, the first of its kind, written about the female endeavor in public administration from the perspective of female public administrators and academics. She is the co-author of Perfectly Imperfect: Seeing Yourself through the Eyes of God and the newly self-published author of the book series Building People - Building Kingdoms: The Business Plan.
Dr. Abney’s passion and ministry is teaching and sharing knowledge, specifically to teens (8th – 12th Grade) and 1st year college students. She is the founder of Victory Leadership Group, Inc. a 501c3 nonprofit organization that offers workshops that prepare teens for success as they transition from high school into the workforce. Dr. Abney also offers workshops designed and tailored for adults and small businesses through a community collaborated workshop as well as the Winning in Augusta Annual Community Health Fair. Lastly, she is the owner of Lia Abney, LLC which empowers women to pursue their destiny through mentoring and self-assessment service offerings. Dr. Abney is the mother of two adult boys and one teenage daughter and currently resides in Texas.
